About Us

Archdiocese of Raipur is located in the central part of Chhattisgarh it consists of fourteen districts. They are Raipur, Mahasamund, Dhamtari, Gariyaband, Baloda-Bazar, Durg, Balod, Bemetara, Rajnandgaon, Kawardha, Bilaspur, Janjgir-Champa, Mungeli, and Korba.



Raipur Diocesan Social Welfare Society (RDSWS) is the Social Development Organization of the Archdiocese of Raipur, CG. Established in August 1980, it completed 35 years of service. In the early years its activities were centered on the relief work which was carried out in hundreds of villages. Later from 1989 the society realized that relief aloe could not solve their problems and achieve their development without making the weakest sections aware of their situation and empower them to become active agents of their own development.



Legal Status


It is registered under Firms and Society Registration Act. 1973. It has obtained IT exemption under section 12 A and also FCRA number.



Management


The Archbishop of Raipur is the President of the Society. He appoints the Executive Director of RDSWS. The other members are elected by the General Body of RDSWS. The activities and program of the society are planned, co-ordinated and monitored by the governing body, the staff of RDSWS, Diocesan Project Selection Committee and Local level center in-charges.



The Motivating Force and Target Group of RDSWS


The motivating force in all the activities of RDSWS is the Gospel Values as it pertains to the alleviation of human sufferings, the development of people and fostering of peace through justice and love. RDSWS works with all sections of the society irrespective of caste, creed, and religion focusing on their empowerment, health, education and sustainable agriculture.
